Railer Notes

Former Railer Football lineman, Keith Klockenga, joined the Railers for their Thursday night team dinner and spoke to the team following the meal. Klockenga, who was a 2-way lineman for the 9-2, '84 team, encouraged the team to do their best to play and live with no regrets. He also emphasized to play and enjoy the physicalness of the sport and that the size of the heart is more important than the size of the body. Klockenga arrived at the Railer practice that afternoon on his bicycle after having ridden it from Williamsville.

The Railers enjoy team dinners every Thursday night prepared by booster club members and hold their dinner meetings inside the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Guest speakers are often invited to share in the dinner and share a positive message with the team afterwards. Past speakers have been: Gary Purdue,(former Railer receiver, '69 Grad., who flew in from Ohio); Bill Handlin(former Railer lineman & grandson of Handlin Field namesake), from Houston, TX; Ken Schweitzer,(former Railer football and softball coach); John Andrews,(former Railer running back, 3-sport athlete and professional baseball player); Matt Vlahovich,(former Railer lineman & current coach); Dave Klemm(former Railer lineman of the '75, 9-1 team and world class wrestler); Donny Case (Special Ops veteran of Iraq war).
